Ive been slowly replacing everything possible on my Wag. Cap, rotor, plugs, did a carb rebuild, new egr, new pcv, new vac lines, gaskets galore. Flushed radiator, oil change, trans overhaul and installed a new air injection tube. All this to make it run better and bring it back to life. It helped some but I new something else needed to be done.
But what have I not mentioned?........electrical. I dont know why but I over looked the electrical stuff. I dont know much about it so I didnt deal with it. But I got a tip on a previous thread to check the coil. I went home and pulled the old coil out for the first time......green corrosion all over the connections....thats no good. Instead of cleaning it I just went down and got a new coil. It looked old anyway. Sprayed all the connections with battery cleaner an then scrubbed them. The condenser looking thing on the side of the coil bracket was corroded too. I took that off and sprayed it with cleaner and scrubbed it with a wire brush so it had a good metal to metal connection again. Hooked it all back up and it idles great. :D
It's a small victory and I've learned that electrical stuff is not so intimidating after all.
Im pressuming because of the bad electrical connections, I was getting a bad spark causing rough idle? I intend to check more electrical connection as time prevails. Thanks for the tips guys!!!!! If you dont have $40 bucks for a new coil, clean the connections thorougly...it may make a big difference! :D
