i'm looking into getting front ones on my YJ. it should give me 4" more wheelbase by putting the front FSJ springs all around.
thanks

Are you trying to say that the springs will give you more wheelbase? By themselves they won't but they would allow for the addition of wider tires if that's what you mean. Also, I would almost bet that if you swapped in the FSJ axles, that you wouldn't need much uf a lift for wider tires to fit. You'd just need a 3" body lift to allow for wheel travel. You could also do a 2" lift in addition to the body lift for the same reason. It would save you at least $200. Also, if you plan on getting FSJ springs and putting them on a Wrangler, check to make sure the mounts are the same distance apart and that they are wide enough for the bigger springs. Otherwise, a 4" lift spring could turn into a 7" lift spring or something like that and the spring could be improperly stressed causing a safety hazard.
Just a few things to consider.
And yes, the Rusty's springs do sag.....
After years of use and abuse just like any other spring.

well stock front waggy springs are 1" longer than YJ springs and have an offset pin that is 1.5"-2" offset of where the YJ pin is. Stock waggy front springs are getting very popular for SOA on CJs and YJs. I'm looking into using lift springs sua.

That's not too much of a difference. I was thinking it might be 4-5" or so (I've never bothered to compare).

the rear FSJ springs are too long but the fronts are pretty close.

What total length are you talking about? Check out a set of Comanche springs. Might be too long but they are off-set quite a bit. I think they are a round 55" with the short end at 24". I am converting my comanche to 4 leaf springs.(cant get much lift with out having to reinforce the crap out of the unibody with the stock setup)
Hey yj4life,
What kind of full size axles are you looking for?
I might be getting an 80 J-10 soon and be looking to get rid of the axles. I am not sure exactly what axles they are yet though.

Comanche leaves are 57" long, XJ Cherokee leaves are around 55-56"
Stock Grand Wagoneer front springs are close enough to the length of stock Wrangler springs (which are the same length all the way around). The pin-offset will move the axle by 2" on a Wrangler. By using front springs on all four corners he can gain 4" of wheel-base. By using those off-set centering-spring pads that MORE or RE (I forget which) makes he can gain another inch or two.
I believe stock GWagon springs give almost 2" of lift, too, but don't quote me on that (it really depends how worn out both springs sets are). Talk to Jamgood96 on the SWB forum at off-road.com, he was SOA with stock springs, and put GWagon leafs on front and it boosted him considerably higher. He posted some pictures of it on that forum.
do fish swim? all springs will sag eventually.. some quicker than others
YJ4life.... if you check www.pirate4x4.com (http://www.pirate4x4.com) you'll find answers to most of your questions. There are quite a few guys over there with 'lil jeeps like yours that have used wagoneer springs, rancho 4044's etc. to stretch wheelbase and gain height.
iirc, stock fsj springs will give you about 2" of lift, 4" springs will give you 6" and so on. If I were you, I'd get some rancho 4044's (about 2" lift) and use them all the way around spring over, It'll lengthen your wheelbase a little bit and with some trimming you'll be able to fit up to 38's. But I'm not a YJ guy, so you'd better check the facts. :D and quit raping our FSJ's, ya shmuck tongue.gif

Rancho lists the 4044 as a 2.5 in lift. These are the springs that were on my wag when I bought it.

Marckeep me posted. I'm not sure. Whatever is the best deal I come across if I have money at that moment is. What gears do those J-10s have? My long term goal is pass drop waggy D44s and/or a toyota rear to match a waggy front (that way I could leave the stock 'yota gears since they go up to 4.88s stock)
as for the 44044 suggestions, they're really expensive and the pirate guys said they sag like crazy. Do they?

I have rusty's 4" springs on the front of my chero and have flexed themm a lot and no bending yet. They are about 6 months old and have settled to their final resting place (they sit higher when new, then sag down a big( Under the weight of a YJ, they wont want to flex much I dont think. As they are ment for a much heavier rig. Unless you stick some revolvers up front.
