I was just wondering what blowby is. My mechanic told me I had too much with my former carb. I've read on this forum where other people have mentioned it but I have no idea what it is. If anyone would explain it to me this rookie would really appreciate it.
thanks,

blow by is......
when the piston is on the compression stroke all valves are shut and the piston squishes the air that is in the cylinder,,,the spark plug fires that mixture and boom the piston is pushed down....if the rings are not sealing againest the cylinder wall some of this compressed air will elak past them and end up in the crankcase....all this air is ventilated through the crankcase ventilation system(PCV valve etc) and sent to the carb to be used as intake air...
it makes absolutley no sense that a carb could cause blow by....butheck I learn something every day!!..the only way it could be is if it is running so rich the extra fuel is washing down the cylinder walls and degrading the seal between the rings and the wall...hhhmmmm
