I found this picture on the net of a 1990 GW for sale. I've circled the two places in red. I don't have the round thing that sticks into the air cleaner housing, nor the hose and attaching piece... Also, on the other thing in the air cleaner, I have a hose coming off of it and going somewhere (intake I think??) but I don't have that little diaphgragm or whatever thing attached to the hose. It's just a straight hose.
What are those diaphragm things for (or whatever they are called that go in between the lines) and what is that missing piece on the air cleaner assembly.
Thanks!

The large round object is the vaccuum motor that opens and closes the flapper doors inside the intake tract of your air cleaner snorkel.the inner most closes off the air filter housing itself and the other closes off your heat stove to the exhaust manifold. The other piece is a delay valve that holds vaccuum on the motors to keep the flapper doors open.

So of those two delay valves, one is yellow one is blue, where do I buy those? Do I go to the parts store and ask for delay valves?
Also, since I don't have either of those, as well as the vacuum motor, what effect would that have on the jeep?

If the motor is the one circled it is for the flapper that stays open all the time when the engine is running. If that flapper is closed the motor will likely have a hard time drawing air.

Well, as I look through the arm in the air cleaner housing, I can see all the way through, so the flap is down. So it would be drawing air through the air snorkel that goes to the front of the car. I am also missing the second mechanism that attaches to the arm of the air cleaner. So basically I have a hole there where the item was either removed, or never installed.

I had the hoses off of mine and it caused the doors to flap up and down at a high rate of speed. Very annoying. I put vacuum to them straight from the intake and that holds them open most of the time. I too, would like to find some new delay valves, because i think that would cure my problem completely.
