Power steering pump [Archive] - International Full Size Jeep Association

Kind of a dumb question, but how serviceable is the power steering pumps on these beasts. Mine is leaking I think around main shaft. Keeps my underside coated and rust protected, but I'm tired of buying power steering fluid. I know you can get rebuild kits.

I just replaced mine and it was pretty cheap. Was a little tough getting the pully off but other than that it was easy and not very expensive. They sell them two ways. They will sell them with the reservior on the pump or just the pump.

You can buy a rebuilt pump without the reservoir for about $50.00. Swap out your reservoir and you will have a new pump. ;)

I have been thinking of doing that. The wife gets mad every time I spend money on the Jeep.
really mad when I have to spend money on the jeep and the car. She just grasp the concept of no car payment and cheap insurance is better than $500/month mini-van payments we make for her vehicle. not to mention insurance.
