I have a 64 J-300 that I am going to swap in the complete driveline from a 76 cherokee. Where do I start after pulling the old stuff out of the J-300? Put in the axels first or the motor? I want to swap in the power steering and brakes too. When is the best time to put all this in? questions, questions, questions! smile.gif

When I swapped in everything from the 79 I started with the axles. This way I had good footing. Then moved on to the engine and then the little stuff to make it all work, brakes, tires.....

Thanks Porkchop! That sounds like a winner. I had kinda planned on doing it that way. I just love a second opinion. smile.gif I wonder if I can cut out the spring mounts on the Cherokee and weld them onto the truck?

Start by pulling the frt sheetmetal as this will make every thing easier to do. Then once you have the old drive train out then start the swaping. You could use the later mounts but why not save some grief and get either Ford or Dodge rear hangers for the rear and transfer the stock Jeep front hangers. It would be a whole lot easier in the back.

Jeepbob - Can I get those hangers from Napa or do I need to get them somewhere else? What is the "correct" name for those parts? A couple of the folks at the local Napa are not very bright and getting what you want from them is tough some times.

I doubt it, the bone yard would be the best place.

Shoot! I was hoping the hangers were going to be easy to get.
