This summer or sooner, im going to attempt to change my breaks in the beast (87Gwag) and have a question. I called the local auto store to price parts and they gave me a quote for the rotors, pads and hub...hub??? does this need to be changed when u do a break job on a gwag??? I call out to all of you with vast knowledge of that which is Jeep to help me out. I wont drive my jeep till its done, im driving a 1986 s-10 blazer now, but want to drive the gwag. Thanks

well lets hope that your rotors and drums are ok.if ot it gets pricy fo new ones.afaik the rotor hub is a two piece so you dont need the hubs just to do the brakes.fairly simple job on the front,i recamend doing the rears one at a time so you can refrence spring placement

ya front is usually easy, drums can get nasty. I want to change the pads and rotors just cause I bought it in February of this year and since there was no real written history on her I would just replace it all, had 2 veichles that the breaks went out on and I dont mess around anymore if it starts squeeking I check it out. If the hubs were to go bad what would be the signs??? do you think I should look into it or wait for some other time??? Thanks for reply

If the hubs were to go bad what would be the signs??? i think the bearings would have to be completly gone for the hube to be bad.check the calipers and rear cylanders for leakage, and the flex lines, just change the front flex lines.if the rotors or drums are scored or suspect have them mic'ed and cut or replace as needed

why dontcha pull the front wheels off and check the pads? ditto with the rear drums. you may not need anything.
