I pulled the motorcraft 4350 off of my stock intake because it needed a rebuild and noticed that the plastic spacer thingy is cracked in more than one place. I called the dealer and they basicly laughed at me. I called all the local wrecking yards and they didnt have anything. Is there some sort of aftermarket replacement for the stock spacer that wont need any modifications to make it work? Thanks for your quick response I need to get this thing back on the road!!

Did you try your local parts store? I went to checkers and bought a stock spacer for the 2150 when I was running it. It is worth a shot.

I have recently bought the spacer for a Motorcraft 4350 from a local parts store. You may have to try more than one but you should be able to find it locally.

I don't remember what year it was, but I pulled a one inch spacer off a Lincoln w/ a 4350. The only thing you have to do is hack off the emmissions thing that sticks out the back and plub the hole that the hacking leaves but to me it was worth it for a good metal spacer that I'll never have to replace. It's an exact fit.

I tried both the Ford & Jeep dealers, no luck. I tried NAPA, Schucks, and the local performance shop. No luck. This is really frustrating. Anyone got one for sale? I guess my next step is to see if someone can manufaacture one for me out of aluminum or something, or maybe its time for the Edelbrock manifold & carb. HELP!

Is this a spacer, or base gasket? Some of them are 1\2" thick.

Its a phenolic 1 inch spacer with a 1/2 inch fiber gasket inset. But, any type of 1 inch spacer would work (I think) but there are none available aftermarket with the correct size holes, at least that I can find.

4 hole spacer or open? The correct size holes for the studs or the throttle bores?

stay away from aluminum if you can..the reason these are made out of plastic type material is for the insulation....you want to keep your carb(and gas) as cool as possible...there are some real fancy wood ones even made which have great insulation properties...

I think Summit has what you need http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?target=search.asp%3FType%3Dbykeyword%2 6Part%3Dcarb%20spacer%26Search.x%3D1%26SearchType% 3DBoth

The holes can be bigger than the throttle and intake bore, just not smaller. If your intake is an open design, just use an open spacer.

Bryan, I put the Edelbrock 4 barrel on the stock intake manifold and I got the spacer I needed from NAPA ($20) It is a one inch thick aluminum spacer, the intake manifold is a spread bore and the Edelbrock carb isn't but they had the spacer, no problem!
I'm over here by Spokane so the same stuff should be available where you are in Wenatchee. M.G.

It is a 4 hole spacer with smaller primaries and larger secondaries (like a quadrajet?) but the holes are closer together than a q-jet so it wont work. I was under the understanding that you couldnt use an open spacer (not having the 4 seperate holes for each venturi) because it would cause vacuum problems. Is this incorrect? If so then any 1 inch spacer for a holley or edelbrock should work because the bolt holes do line up. Marvin. Did your manifold itself have the 4 seperate holes in it like mine does? And if so how does it work with the Edelbrock carb? Sgt Dave: I see a spacer for a 4150 carb, would that be the same as a 4350? Thanks.

There are two types, "Square Bore" and "Spreadbore". If you know it's not a Quadrajet type, you need a squarebore spacer. Any of them should work. ;)
make sure the throttle butterflies clear before you bolt it up!

But, there are two types (at least) of spreadbores: the Qjet and the Motorcraft 4350. I think the Thermoquad uses yet another pattern, but that shouldn't concern us here. I've got a couple of these carbs at home, so I should post some images showing the differences between them so people can see how incompatible they are. The 4350 setup really is a screwy setup.

Bryan, mine has four individual holes! M.G.

I believe it is called an "insulator plate" and not a spacer plate. If it does not appear on screen exactly as you describe it, the parts monkey can miss it.

Ok, I'm tired of fighting this. I just ordered an Edelbrock 2131 (non-egr) intake and the 1406 (electric choke 600cfm) 4bbl. It came to $404.99 including shipping to Washington State. I got the non-egr because the catalytic converter is already missing and the smog pump is frozen/disconnected & we have no emmissions here. What do I have to worry about in hooking up a non-egr where there was originally an egr? Thanks!

Good for you Bryan, you will be pleased with the Performer and 1406.
