I went to the Junkyard to find a Bronco Fr driveline yesterday. It was a waste of time! The Bronco drivelines are 36" long. my Waggie needs one that's 29" long. I looked at several other 4wds and found the XJ Cherokees to be the closest match. My last one I just paid Six States to lengthen it for $110. The Junkyard sells 'em for $65.
Who else has done the standard SOA netting 7"s of lift and used a "swap-in" fr driveline?

Sheesh, wish I knew that. Just paid 100 for my front shaft to be extended to 36.5" and CV rebuilt. Suppose you could get that shaft and have it shortened, my rear cost me about 40 I think. Not sure what else has 29" front CV tho...

hmmm mtn, someone posted that an 84fs bronco front shaft was a bolt in. So, non of the ones you found were close?

When I did my SOA I put in a front shaft from an 83 blazer. I am running a D20 and it is not a CV joint.

None were close! They had an 84,86,91,&92 all with 36" Fr drivelines wether they were manual or auto. It sucked cuz I also saw the post that it was a bolt in.
The Bronco II was close in length but uses a slip yoke like the TJ/YJ/XJ has on the rear.
Anyone??

ive got my old shaft right here in front of me and it measures 26.5 inches from the center of the cv u joint to the center of the other u joint mid travel.its also only got a 1.25 shaft.the one in my rig now measures 30 inches roughly mid travel and its 2 inces dia.i bought it locally from another wheeler who claimed it was from an 84 fs bronco with auto trans.it even had a tag on it stating the same.thes are the only 2 crappy pix ive got of it way back when i first installed it the winter before last.

Mark, Not being a smart alec here but is there a reason the front shaft is in backwards? Probably doesn't matter but I'm the curious type.

only the rear shaft is in backwards with the cv at the t-case.
all my efforts are going into the new rig and this will become our beater.

All of the front cv'd rigs came with the cv at the top on the front shaft didn't they? It appears the slip yoke is at the top in the one pic. J20

Aw, wait a minute, It does look like the slip yoke is down now that I stare at it a little more.
