View Full Version : Blower motor keeps running

I have a 95 Grand Cherokee Limited. Two nights ago, I pulled in
to my driveway and shut the Jeep off but the AC/htr blower motor
kept running. Since there is no way to shut it off using any
interior controls, I checked the owners manual for fuses
and pulled the blower motor "maxi" fuse in the power control center
under the hood. No fuses are blown in the inside or outer fuse centers.

Came out the next morning and the Jeep would not start. Everything else
electrical worked. I thought "no way", but re-installed the blower motor
maxi fuse. Blower immediately started running again, but the Jeep fired
right up. Have been pulling the blower maxi fuse each time I shut the
vehicle off. All documentation shows that *only* the blower motor is
supposed to be on this maxi fuse circuit. Wiring diagrams show a
relay in the power circuit to the blower motor, so I have checked the
AC relay in the power control center but it does not affect the blower running.

Two questions:
1) Where is the blower motor relay that I am guessing must be stuck
open or closed, as the case may be, causing the blower to keep running?
2) What kind of dumb electrical wiring requires the blower motor to run
in order for the vehicle to run? If your blower motor pops the fuse
going down the road, I assume the engine stops and you coast to the side
of the road?

Thanks for any help!

Well, sorry to inform you of this, but you found the wrong forum. This is ment for full size jeeps, which include: 1962-1986 J-Trucks, 1963-1983 wagoneers and cherokees, and 1984-1991 grand wagoneers.

But...

For the blower I would check the switch, and if there is a relay, check that. One of them must be stuck in the on position.

for the second part, the ecu may detect the missing fuse and therefore not let the engine start without it. But thats kind of a guess.
