Found this in the glove box of my 78 Limited. Not sure what it is or if it is needed or can be thrown out. Doesn't look familiar and was wondering if anybody could help me out identifying it.

Click on 78 pics in sig and go to last photo titled "what is this"

Thanks

It looks like a ball point pen. People use them to write on paper (and sometimes bathroom walls) with. I keep one in my glove box just in case I need to write a check or something.

But on a serious note, it looks like a bracklet or something. That is very strange in deed. Do the ends connect together?

I found 2 of them in the glove box. They are kindy springy, not sure what kinda metal it is. Little flat coils appear to be steel the ends are probably aluminum.

BTW Wifey says to use sharpies on the bathroom walls. They are permanent ink!!! http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Those are weird. Hmmmmmmm if it belongs to the wag they deffinatley have to do with the interior. Maybe the springy things that go in the seam of a door pocket??

Looks vaguely familiar, but I can't place it now. Put 'em back in the glovebox just in case...if you throw 'em out, you'll need 'em, trust me :).

i think they might be from your seats, perhaps from underneath or inside. if they are springy. if they aren't, they might be from the insides of an interior trim piece, like a handle or the corner of something that used to be covered in vinyl. who knows? someone probably just picked them up somewhere and they are useless in your fsj -- mine is full of that type of thing!!! good luck finding out what they really are though.

Hrm, been a while since I've seen those...

Well no worry, its not a FSJ part http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/wink.gif Last time I wore out one of my knee braces (pattellar stabilization) those were the little 'supports' on the side of the knee.

Heh, I wouldn't think they were used in FSJs http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/smile.gif

That's what they are. They come in the elastic ACE knee braces. I use them on both of my knees. Now that Shake N Bake Said that, that is what they look like to me.

Actually fellas, I think DLyons nailed it! Emergency snow chains for a Geo Metro...OR!!!! Waitaminnit, they could be...naaah. Well, maybe: how about artificial phallus springs? If so, for God's sake don't touch 'em!

Man are you lucky, those are genuine AMC factory tools. They were used by a highly trained technician to apply a universal fastening device known commonly as "Duct Tape". Now all you need to do is find a roll of that highly sought after material.
