Well while aquiring a fine Tilt stearing column out of an 84 I noticed to my delight the nice apohlstery "spelling" in this ride and the much improved front seat design . And since im going to recover both seats anyhow will this 84 power seat drop right in my 76 with a little wiring. I meen for $75 how could I resist if it will work.

In a word, yes! I put the seat mounts from my dead 87 GW (I used the original seats, since I have a 2dr Cherokee), and cut out the spots in the seats for the power controls. Now I have power seats in my 79 Cherokee, with the addition of a little bit of wiring. Works great, and has made life a little easier.

will this 84 power seat drop right in my 76 with a little wiringAre you talking about just a straight across bolt-em-in type swap?
If so, then here's where I'm at with '85 power buckets into a '70 that had a bench seat. No but don't give up.
I'm really not sure about a '76, this might be new enough. It seems there were some changes to the floor area around the transmission hump.
When I first pulled my bech seat out I was really happy to see an assortment of bolt holes existing under the carpet. Well unfortunatly the bolt holes only hit on two mounting holes on each side. The outside two on the drivers side and the inside two on the passenger side.
Not exactly a drill and bolt swap, I needed to build some brackets to level the seats because of the differing heights in the floorpans.
The wiring part is easy.

I don't know what year Jeep started offering power seats. In my boneyard hunt for seats, though, I noticed that all the FSJ's I looked at had numerous holes in the floorboards to accomodate more than one type of seat style, i.e., bench or bucket, center console, etc.

I have a set of power leather bucket seats from a 90 GW in my 75 Wag I got the matcing rear seat to go with it. Paid $16 for the buckets and $20 for the rear seat. The 75 Wag had a bench seat before, the front left mounting hole and front right hole are the same, the frame for the bucket seats is shorter than the bench so you have to drill 3 holes on each side(which is no big deal) and you have some nice creature comforts that you didn't have before. Also another neat thing is get the power mirrors off of a GW and the switch and as much of the wiring as you can get. Its also a nice addition to the older rigs.
Hope this helps you MG :D :D :D
