I am asking for a non-FSJ friend.....

He has a 86 Jeep Commanche with weak heat, he has a new radiator, hoses, thermostat and still the heat is pretty weak.....

Not a Full Sized but still a jeep, can anyone give a hand?

thanks in advance

there is a good chance that heater core is internally plugged with rust and crap or more probable is that the fins on the heater core's outside are clogged with a dirt like mix. i have replaced 2 in the past 2 weeks on a car and a van. this time of the year is when you see this the most.

is the valve that operates the heat working? When the heat lever is moved, does it also move the part in the engine compartment?
Not much, but worth a try.

If I remember correctly (don't laugh!!) the Commanche is one of those thoughtfully engineered vehicles where the radiator is lower than the hoses so that the fill is not on the radiator. I believe there is a specific procedure on how to purge the air out of the system but I can not tell you what it is. I recall reading something on this before but I don't know if it was here or elsewhere. Search the archives. Sorry.

I searched the archives and found this -

Kerry,
That only applies to 4.0s. An '86 (1st year of MJ production, btw) would be either a 2.5 or GM 2.8. http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/wink.gif
