Currently rebuilding the Carter carb on my 258 and to the point of adjusting the "set-up piston adjustment"
The instructions say: with piston assy. in carb turn out idle screw until throttle valves are closed...I did that
1. Fully depress step-up piston while holding moderate pressure on rod lifter tab... I did that but concerns my on what is moderate pressure is
2. Next tighten rod lifter lock screw, then return idle RPM screw to its original setting
What i did is just set the adjustment in the middle, what does this effect.
Next step is the pump travel. the instructions say to have close to 7/16 to 15/32 travel i have 3/4 amybe even more, what does this effect
These last 2 steps have thrown me for a loop I would have been done with the rebuild in about 45 mins. but hit this snag......help
