Are the AMC 360s interchangeable with the Chryco or do I have to use the same exact type for my GW?

You must use the AMC Engine. Chryslers are not even close. 1000-2500 to buy one rebuilt, depending on rebuilder.

AMC != Chryco != Ford !!!

You can use any AMC 73(ish +) V8 (304,360,401)with very minor headaches, or 80+
AMC V8 with no pains.

Mike D.I wonder how many people will know that != means not equal?? smile.gif

I don't see where you would have any more problems with a 70+ than a 73-79, unless I'm missing something. There is a couple of mounting holes that are different on the early heads, but I think that change was after 73...

Since you have an 89 you would need to make sure that you used the same flex plate since you have the later style mitsu starter. You would probably be better off using a 'newer' motor so as not to run into any little 'suprises' like the mounting holes on the heads.

In case you were confused, all the GW's till the end of production (91) used the AMC 360. None ever got the chryco 360...
