"parks closed, the moose out front should've told you"

..anyway, I have been diagnosing a misfire, at least I thought. I pulled all the the plugs and checked the spark wires, everything looks ok. Then I'm talking to a buddy and I describe my dilema and I told him I started chasing this problem as a leaky exhaust manifold and he tells me that it sounds like I have a burnt/stuck exhaust valve. I guess now I get to perform a compression test. Lets say I do have a bad valve what do I do then, did I mention this is a remanufactured engine with less than 3k miles on it... Any advice as usual would be greatly appreciated.

If you know witch side it is on pull the valve cover and check your rockers and look at the valve springs. If you got a tierd spring or broken one it will do the same thing, mine has done it 4 times in 35 thousand miles. the po did not replace the springs when he rebuilt the motor.

THanks, after I check the compression I'll now which side it is. I'll give that a try. Will it be obvious if the spring is tired or broken?

Sorry for not getting back sooner, if you got a tierd spring it is hard to tell with out pulling it off and testing it, broken your rocker will be loose.if the valves are sticking get some trans fluid and run it down the carb with it running, just don't dump alot at one time, oh and this will rid your place of skeeters too lol.
