Thanks for the posts walking me like a 4 year old thru the exhaust upgrade. It took forever(7+ hours) even though I had everything in order except one pipe.

The first time I fired it up I had a horrible exhaust leak at the manifolds, but that is almost completely taken care of now (just a slight tick when I really romp on it).

It motors along like a big dog now that I eliminated all the smog goo, including the cat. There is certainly tons more power and room under the hood as well. I got lucky with the banjo bolts, no breakage. The re-install using Bobs shaven bolt method worked like a charm and looks super-clean.

Thanks again to you guys for making it as easy as a mechanical moron could have expected. It sounds so !!#&%^@@ing cool compared to stock that I am well pleased with the outcome. My neighbors hate 'Woodstock' even more! :D

Buy a pair of the LONGER 3/8" exhaust-studs with brass nuts from the HELP! line. They are coarse-thread where they thread into the manifolds, and are high-quality studs that won't rust out very easily. In addition, the brass nuts hold them on snug when used with lockwashers, but are easily removed. Just don't overtighten them, or else you'll strip them out.

The shorter ones won't work with the heat-riser, but the longer ones will work on both sides.

I've got them on all my vehicles, and they are a joy to work with.

Thank you Mr Barry. Now if I could only find a local outlet that carries them. They are aircraft bolts, yes? Where did you get yours? TIA

Between you and DonS I'm not sure which one knows more, but it's appreciated.

TIANo, they aren't aircraft bolts; they are in the red blister-packs you see on the racks at AutoZone, Pep-Boys, Advance, etc... They come with the two studs, the two brass nuts and the lock-washers. You can look them up in the Motormite/Dorman/HELP! catalog (same company).

Good luck!

I couldn't find mine locally in any of the Checkers, AutoZones, PepBoys, Napa, etc.

Eventually I got mine from a normal exhaust shop, and work great so far.

Got them from NAPA today, well half of them anyway. The length is 1 1/4". They ordered an extra package of them for me and I should be able to do my install in the morning. Thanks for the assist.

Runs like a charm and sounds so cool now. I have an exhaust rumble headache and for some reason I like it. :D
