finally got my parts together and dropped my tranny again. it was peeing a stream out of the bottom center of the front seal. I installed a new torque converter, flexplate, front seal and crank bushing. Input shaft of tranny is solid, no wobble. If I lay under the truck and watch it, I can clearly see the stream coming out. Imagine drinking a 6 pack of watered down light beer without a restroom break. When you finally get to go... that's exactly what this looks like, but it's red. any ideas ?

Can you see any sort of crack or blemish in the case of the tranny...maybe like a hairline crack possibly....Is the tranny case dirty?
That could maybe mask a crack in the case itself.

are you sure that it is not comming from the o-ring that goes around the front pump ???? did you check the front pump bolts to see if they were tight ????

I replaced front pump gasket and bolt washers too. Before I tore it down I ran dye in the fluid, of course it got srayed all over from hitting the converter. I washed it all down before going back together. It's dark out now, I threw in some more dye and layed under the truck with a black light. Bright yellow stream shooting straight out the bottom center of the converter and front seal.
This is a payback for not jumping on that mercedes diesel and 4 speed last week. :(

pump bushing looked good. still aluminum colored, not copper looking. no grooves or wear showing in it. I think I'm gonna bail out now before I get any deeper in this one. I needed an excuse to get rid of the AMC engine anyways. I must have some breakage inside the pump.

nope, I'm pretty sure I got the right seal in there, ran the numbers past a pro in a post about a month ago and he told me the right one to put in smile.gif
