I have a tan vinyl headliner that I need to paint maroon to go into my wagon. Is there something I can use that will hold up to the bending of putting it back in?

JC Whitney supposedly sells a dye that will work, but I've never tried it. I've got a faded burgundy headliner in my tan interior Cherokee, and looks much nicer than the original, and doesn't rest on the top of my head, either!! ;)

Go to your local automotive paint store and get a can of vinyl paint. It covers great and it will be just like the original paint. The trick is in cleaning the vinly first with alcohol. Put it in a misting bottle like Windex and spray on and wipe off. My upholstery guy showed me how to do it. I have painted seats, arm rests, ashtrays and all come out very nice. I have never seen the paint peel or flake. It has worn off some on the seats, but I didn't prep them correctly before I painted them.

I am going by a local paint shop after work and getting some vinyl paint. I hope this stuff works. I will finaly have a headliner after a year and a half without :D .

I've been wanting to put a vinyl headliner in mine to replace the sagging cloth. Is the procedure for installing the vinyl headliner much different than the cloth?

Is the vinyl headliner material fairly easy to come by? I've got the "carmel" color.

Thanks,

I have no idea. I got this one out of a mid 70's cherokee. It has the vinyl on it already. I wouldn't think it would be extremly hard to put vinyl on the board. Just getting the material off is the hard part.

Most of the 70's headliners were just embossed cardboarb like material and will take paint well and don't fall down. Cherokee ones will fit Wags too.
