Hey all, Im in the process of replacing my raear axle assy., the P.O. said he did some brake work on it. The rear lines do look new but they also look to be awfull small. Does anyone know what the correct size should be for my '80 chero WT? (hard line from split to wheel cyl.) Thanks muchly.

If I remember right they are 5/16" I have just run the new lines on the frame of my 70 Wag with a 79 Wag brake system, and seem to recal them being 5/16" :D

Just did the rear brakes on both an '88 Dodge B350(van) and on my '78 J10, and both used 3/16" chunks of line. Needed a 20" and 60" for each too....weird! smile.gif

I'll caution you on one thing though....to consider getting all your line/cylinders from the same place if you can, or at least check to make sure they fit first! When I did the brakes on the van, Napa was cheaper than Bumper on everything except the shoes, so got most of my parts there, but they didn't have a 60" chunk of line, and were out of "couplers"(female-female joints), so ran over to Bumper and just asked them for a 3/16" by 60" line and got one. Dang thing was it did NOT fit in the wheel cylinders OR in the junction box on the axle when I tried it....but thought I could get it on anyway. I ended up not being able to tighten it all the way, but had to bust the line off to get the things unscrewed and threw it across the garage(a little teed off), and had to go back to Napa and get the right chunk a couple days later when I was in town....THAT one fit! Moral of the story: check to make sure the threads go IN while you're still at the store! smile.gif In fact....take one of the OLD thread chunks in and test THAT as well....just to make sure "everything" fits together! Once they do, it's slick and easy! Oddly, though I wasted nearly $5 on that chunk of bum line, I found a use for it later(won't go into that story), so feel redeemed in a way!

Anyway....the 3/16" was on my '78, but I'd gather it's what your 80 will take too. If that seems small, think that the SAME size went on the '88 1 ton van I did! smile.gif Looks skinny, but it works, and I'd rather have skinny new than rotten old and fat! smile.gif

Take care...

Crazy_Jepman, thats the size I thought it should be but it is 3/16 right now..... and it works o.k......soooo.. I think I wil have to go with UnkleMunky and stick with it. Besides, if I put larger lines on than it is designed for, it may make the brakes too mushy and that would suck

thanks again guys
