Thermostat????

I always wondered why my 79 J10, with a 258 was so cold nature. I was changing the oil and notice that there was no thermostat or even a place for one. Now it is about 30 degrees out and I'am freezing muy butt-off. Any suggestions??

Where did you look? You may not have one, though I think you do, but it is under the housing that your Top Rad hose is clamped to. This housiing will be bolted to the block with 2 bolts, remove the 2 bolts and pull the housing off and the T-Stat will/should be there. It will pull out, I run a 198 if I can get it, 195 is fine though.

Every water cooled vehicle has a t-stat if it has a heater. This would apply your vehicle. There is a place for the t-stat, you just must be looking in the wrong place.
