Drivers side window went awhile ago, now the passenger side has done the same thing. Looking at the rears, there not far away from going to, plus the tailgate :(
The guides that are clipped to the window control arm have rusted off from the channel attached to the bottom of the glass. Not a snowballs chance of fixing them, so will need new ones. These are manually wind up/down type.
Problems;
1) Can't seem to obtain any here in West Oz, so If anybody knows any websites where I can get some from?
2) This will means I'll probablly have to purchase them via Internet, something I don't
have alot of faith in. Do I have cause for concern or not?
TIA

Graham, I'm not really sure what parts you're discussing. Can you take photos?

Not for a couple of days, only have access to digital camera from work. I'll try to discribe them better.
Running along the bottom of each window is a piece of light gauge U channel that is fixed to the glass. Between the glass and channel is a piece of rubber. Spot welded to this channel is a slotted guide that the roller on the winder control arm fits. This allows the roller to slide in the guide. Making up for the difference in the arc of the winder control arm as it goes up or down.
Make sence  Maybe a picture is worth a thousand words

Nope, in this case I got it from the words.

Let me make a couple of calls and see what I can come up with for you.

Have you tried the folks at Auto Alliance in Sidney? The phone number listed on their website for domestic calls is 02-9634-2238.

NOTE: I actually inquired about buying all of their inventory of FSJ parts, and they responded that it would be a pretty big purchass!

Graham, are you a member of one or more of the FSJ lists?

If not, that might be the best source for the parts you need.

Look at www.yahoogroups.com, (http://www.yahoogroups.com,) and search for FSJ, and you should see two (1FSJ, and FSJ-List). The FSJ-List is pretty much family oriented, and the 1FSJ group is a little bit looser, but help can be had at both places, and they do tend to overlap (me for one).

You'll have to subscribe (digest, or individual emails, and if you do the latter, be prepared for LOTS of emails), and then you can post questions, etc. There are some Aussies, and Kiwis there, too.

I'm buying a set of the lower window channels for my rear-door windows from http://www.jimsoffroadwarehouse.com/

They were $12.95/each. They have the diagrams under replacement parts, in their doors/windows section.

Thanks guy's for the responce.

Ralph; havent yet, but will check out Auto Alliance.

Lindel; Did one of the lists before signing up for IFSJA. As you say, e-mails pee'd me off. Might have to try again for a short time.

Bob; Great site, like being able to see what your looking for. Have made enqiries with them.

Any Pros/Cons about shopping over the internet???

BTW, any major differences between a 80 and a 82. I dont think there would be, It takes a couple of years for things to fall down to here :D

I do most of my buying via internet now. (Except groceries and gasoline!)

Pros: Open all the time. I can shop as much as I want and never be hassled by a salesperson. No sales tax (usually). I can do it all from home, at any hour. Businesses often offer a discount if you place your order via the 'net

Cons: No salespeople! Sometimes I actually need a question answered and the info is not on the web. Shipping is pricey. Sometimes UPS, FedEx, USMail won't leave a package and it turns into a hassle. Returns could be a hassle, but no worse than any other mail order.

I've never been ripped off by an internet company, and never had my CC info improperly used. I rarely think twice about buying online anymore.

There is a setting when you sign up to turn the e-mail option off so you just view iton the site. I forget the exact words but look for it when you sign up.
