Ugh, I hate asking for help on this. Its not an issue of pride but rather of disgust. I do not like Motorcrafts and hate the fact that I even own one. So, here goes.

Motorcraft 2150....

If you've been following lately you'll know that I'm swapping a 360 from an 84 GW into a 77 Chero so I can overhaul the one from the 77 Chero. I've pulled the engines, eliminated the entire smog system on the donor engine, and was going around the carb making sure all passages were plugged as needed. I came to one at the front, bottom of the carb. As you look straight on at the carb you see the fuel inlet on the far left, and next to that centered on the body is the pump thingy. The inlet in question is right below the pump close to where the carb meets the manifold. There was fuel dripping out of the hose that was still attached to it after the pulling process. The hose was not clamped so I know its not a pressurized fuel line. I can ID the fuel overflow line at the top of the carb. So what's this line at the bottom? Could it be that its a line that normally is a vacuum line and it actuates a diaphragm that has ruptured and is leaking into the compartment below it? In one diagram of the Motorcraft carb it says "Power Valve". Is this the case? When I drove the GW home it did hesitate a bit on the take-off but with all of the other vacuum leaks it was uncertain as to why.

Sounds like the vac hose going to the chamber the power valve is in. There should not be fuel or even a fuel smell in that hose nor in the power valve chamber. If there is then power valve is blown and leaking.

-joe is right - thats exactly what happend to mine.

Its a $20 part at NAPA and all you have to do is replace it, but it requires you to remove the carb and turn if upside down to get at it.

After I replaced it, what an amazing difference!

$18.99 at CSK, & $19.99 at NAPA. I'll go to NAPA because I get a 10% AAA discount and I like their parts better.

Thanks guys.

Frickin POS Motorcraft. I just hoe that this is the only problem I have with this carb because I've had my rig for 2 years and have never been able to get my Holley right so I'm always plagued by carb problems. I'm not a huge Holley fan either but its what came on my rig. I'll be going to a Q-Jet or, TBI as part of the overhaul.
