I think the hi/low headlight switch on my 79 Cherokee is going out. At times the headlights won't come on or the switch itself is getting VERY hot. So, I think it's safe to say it needs to be replaced. Where do I get one? Is it a stealership only part?
Thanks,
Greg

They are available at any parts store. I assume you mean the Dimmer switch on hte floor. They are about 7.00 to 8.00 ;)

Yeah, this is one of the advantages of Jeep "borrowing" other company's technology. This is a standard GM switch used in literally millions of their cars through the 60's and 70's, so parts are cheap and readily available.
Now, if it was the switch in the COLUMN on the later models, well, that's actually not to bad, because the switch itself is at the base of the column; but if the problem is with the pivot for that lever in the column (as it was in my XJ Cherokee), well, it's just easier to replace the column... :(
