ok i finaly looked up under the dash of my waggy and i found the biggest uglyest wire snarl ever i was trying to get my tranny kickdown to work and i found out that the DSPO vaporised a wire in there about 3 in of it is just backed insulation no wire inside and i think it toasted many other wires in it's path so should i get a wireing diagram and fix it my self or take it in and have it done??
if i should do it my self who has a wire diagram for a 1975 wag??? how much for a copy??
and if i take it to someone how much should it cost?

before you touch anything, make a list of what works and what doesnt. if its just a few things, deal with these individually. heck,p.o. may have already repaired the damage. dont mess with it unless you have too.this is something i cant really advise on without seeing the damage. ive repaired lotsa minor wiring troubles myself because i use the same stuff at work installing equiptment. the hardest part of automotive wiring is getting to it. its also an area where thereis no extra. its lousy work, and any body who takes on the job is gonna charge plenty. good luck

I too have a wiring mess with my jeep. I don't know what the DSPO did, but I have unused connectors hanging all over the place and a lot of things didn't work. Mine is an '87 and you can no longer buy wiring harnesses for it. I got a wiring schematic from the Chrysler factory manual ordering center and it has helped immensely as I've been correcting the problems one by one. Just yesterday I got my fog lamp switch to work.
As far as burnt wires, my wiring harness was laying on the manifold, started shorting and raised all sorts of havoc. I just keep replacing the wires under hood one at a time. Every once in a while, I get rid of one. With the schematic in hand, you can easily improve on the original wiring design http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/biggrin.gif Good luck!

and i am not sure what else
and if you want i can take pictures and send them to you i will take about 2 weeks on the picture though

dont bother with the pictures on my account. dont sweat the mystery connectors, harnesses are usually made to fit several applications, not just your problem child. the bad b/u lites and dead oil/p may not be part of dash wiring trouble. i would work each one separately, staring from the source, bulbs+sockets,op sending unit and work toward the dash.dont forget switch @trans.when replacing wires,Langdons method works the best. the end result wont look at all like original, but it'll work. good luck
