is a M23 stronger or weaker than a D44?

the m23 is the fsj version of the amc20. depending on the actual part, it is both stronger and weaker.
i prefer the m23 (m20) over the d44.

no part of the amc20(m23) is weaker than a 44,IMO. the m23 has a slightly bigger, thicker ring gear,and a bigger pinion. the axleshafts are 2 less spines,but comparable size.not enuff of a size difference to make a difference in strength.
the housing is on an m23 is very comparabe to a 44 housing,not any weaker. both should be trussed to prevent beinding if they will subjected to any hauling,towing or other abuse with larger than stock sized tires smile.gif
