Anyone know where to get the insulation that goes under the carpets for an 89 GW? or the factory number for the insulation? I tried the dealer and he wasn't sure if they could order it, he tried to show me the diagram but it didn't make any sense. Thanks

JC Whitney and Raybucks both have the mildew proof fiber insulation. I think they both also carry the kind that has a layer of milar added for better insulation. They are not custom formed, but you really don't need it to be anyway.

I just used some 20 pound grade stuff from my local carpet shop [actually a menards(like a home depot)]...cut to fit and ducttaped it all together ...

worked sweet............

Thanks mccullough_89_GW for the advice on carpet underlayment. I bought some today at Home Depot. I got the best stuff they had and was amazed at how easy it was to work with. I happened to have some commercial vinyl wall base glue which I troweled on in several areas and was amazed at how well the padding conformed to every curve and valley.

One other tip I learned. Use large heavy duty scissors to cut the underlayment. A utility blade just doesn't cut it.

Also, thanks to each and everyone of you guys. I have been like a kid in a candy factory since I discovered this forum a few days ago!
Finally got my Jeep running yesterday after sitting up for about 3 and a half years thanks to you guys and guyettes. I was very close to almost giving it away a few weeks ago!

The only problem now is that I am spending way too much on my Jeep to get her back to excellent condition but I'm now addicted.
