the last couple of days the voltmeter intemitently drops and the wag almost stalls. sometimes it does. only seems to happen until it's completely warmed up. altenator, voltage regulator bad??

The alternator, and voltage regulator are one in the same, so I'd pull it, and ask for it to be tested.

Of course you might want to check the belts first, and make sure that they're tight. And as always, check the grounds.

It could be the stalling causing the alternator output to dip. Do you have any vacuum leaks or a clogged carb? That might be an avenue to pursue.

yeah, the carb was taken off, rebuilt and put back on but not by the same person. it does need to be adjusted but i has been running o.k. for about 2 months. also on start up it sometimes doesn't kick right over. gives that little hesitation like the battery is dead or dying. and once a few months ago when i turned the key off it didn't shut off, i had to turn the key again ( i know, not good for the starter) but it did shut off.
