I am installing the tera low20 kit in my transfer case and have run into some model year difficulties.
I have two dana 20's and the front output shafts are slightly differrent. Overall length is the same but the shaft diameter is bigger on the older shaft. The bearing kit that I bought from novak comes with the bearing for the later model front output shaft with the smaller shaft diameter. I have the thrust washer for the old style c-clip shaft. But no thrust washer for the new style shaft.
Darn this is hard to explain. Let me try to simplify it a bit.
#1 if I use the later model small (no clip) front output shaft. I need to find a thrust washer for it. Have had no luck so far finding one.
#2 If I use the old style shaft with the c-clip I need to know what the timken part number for the bearings and cups are for the larger diameter shaft.
The overall diameter of the bearings are the same for both shafts, Just the inside diameter is bigger on the bearings that I don't have.
I would imagine that the larger shaft would be stronger so I am leaning towards that, but it wouldn't matter if I had to run the other just need the thrust washer for it.
The early model thrust washer is has tangs in it that slides into groves in the output shaft and is held in place with the c-clip.
The later model shaft has no c-clip or groves in shaft for this style thrust washer.
I really don't know what the later model thrust washer looks like because I can't seem to find the original.
Does anyone have the older style bearings in a box that they can get the part numbers off so I can go down to the local bearings inc and see if they can still be obtained?
Or a source for the newer model thrust washer?
Thanks for the help.
