Brake booster

Thhere's a thread in Gen Discussion about a guy who's buying an 88 GW - his wife says it might need a brake booster. Which got me thinking - pedal pressure is pretty high on my 88 as well. Brakes fine, solid feel, just high effort. Is the pedal pressure required normally kind of high on a GW? How can I check the booster?

One check you can do is suck on the hose from the booster and it should hold vacuum and not bleed off. If it does then the diapragm or valving inside is shot. This will also cause major intake leak and affect idle.
