I have an oil leak somewhere. Too much build up to tell exactly where from. It appears to be coming from around the fuel pump, but I cant say for sure. Is it common for oil to leak from the fuel pump gasket or is there another place near the fuel pump that I should check?
Thanks

Think engine shampoo...if nothing else it will make working on it slightly cleaner. My first guess would be the valve cover.Unless the oil is a bubbling out a clean area is the fastest way to find an oil leak. Also make preventive maint. much easier

valve cover isnt leaking I can actually see that from the top. Oil drips off the fuel lines that go into the pump. Dont see any leaks starting above the fuel pump. doesnt leak very much, just a few drops, but im the type that hates leaky cars. Guess I shouldn't have bought a jeep, lol.

is it oil or power steering juice? could be a p/s pump/hoses thing.

Are your fuel pump bolts snugged up? I had oil leaking there from them being loose. Just a thought from experience.

I have have had fuel pumps leak oil out a small hole in the side almost like the weap hole in a water pump. Sounds like that might be your problem. Usaly they leak gas into the oil also.

Fuel Pump gasket. Listed as an initial source of external leaks in the manual.
after 120,000 miles on the old motor it leaked from the oil pump. it tightened the bolts a bit and it stopped. but that housing is aluminum so you can't tighten them too tight
