Here is a follow up question to my last post.
I have been looking around on both Summit Racing and Jegs web sites and neither of them carry brand name cams for AMC motors (Summit offers 2 of thier house brand cams).
I know where I can obtain a cam, it may simply cost me more than I'd like. Can anyone recommend a place that I can order a camshaft (prefferably Comp Cam), lifters and a timing chain?
Thanks again,
Ian

I'm familiar with both Summit and Jegs: I grew up a short distance from the original Summit shop in Tallmadge, Ohio, and I now live near the Jegs store. Summit makes good stuff, and if you can find a part with their name on it as opposed to any other brand, such as Edelbreak, go with Summit. Particularly with something like a cam or double-roller timing chain, you're only paying the marketing spiff for a brand name like Edelbrock, Crane, whatever.

I know I may get some frowns for this, but give up on the "off the shelf" cams. When I rebuilt my 360 last year, I installed TRW's version of the edelebrock cam (same grind) and had nothing but problems.
I just switched to a custom ground cam made by Engle in Santa Monica CA. Heres their site...

And the AMC cam list...
http://www.englecams.com/cgi-bin products.pl?action=select_cam&.engine=AMC&.cam=HYD_FLAT&.turbo=N
The cam I went with is a "combo" grind as follows...
K-52 intake
K-54 exhaust
With a 112*c/l
I gained about 3-4" of vac at idle which cured a terrible stumbling problem off idle and have great power up to 4500-5000 rpm.
Good luck...
kris.
