i was helping a friend move, and on the last load my rear window would not budge(once the bakc seat is out that is some cargo area). it is stuck in the up position. for a while now the switch inside would not work but i could move it with the key switch. then the key switch did not work at all. i looked up some tech articles to get me on my way. do you have any advice or prioritze me on what i should check first? thanks for the help

May sound like the intermitten problem I had.... remedied by cleaning connecter.

Crawl back in the cargo area and remove the acces panel. reach in there and pull the connector from the motor and clean it(easy to reach with the window up).

I haven't had the problem since... it's been over 2 years now.

Hopefully this will be your fix.... I hope. Mine was pretty dirty.

I traced my short to the red power lead(always hot), which runs with that band of wires into the slot at the bottom drivers side of the tailgate. The short was actually near the spare tire, and turned out to be just a rotted wire.

Check the group of wires going into the tailgate. When you open the tailgate they are on the drivers side, I just replaced 4 of them tonight they had crack and corroded and split, what a mess.................

Good luck

could just be a stuck safety switch. go out back, insert key in the lock, try to open. simaltaneously (sp?) push in on the upper left corner of the tailgate. the 1/4" or so might be just enough to close the switch. good luck

thanks for the replies. i am gonna check it out as soon as i find the time. i did notice that since it went out my voltmeter is running at about 14volts, usually it ran higher. somewhere around 15-16. is this an indication of anything? thanks
