i have a 14bolt and want to put it in my cherokke but a friend of mine says the gas tank wont clear, anyone have any experience with this ,i also have a choice of tanks ,one is from a 77 with t-18 w/model 20 the other is the quad unit,i can see how the quad unit would not work but he says the t-18 wont either,is their a best way to cut the axle to fix this problem ,or could he be wrong,i know others have done this swap ,i am also going to have a minium of 4in.lift ,but probaly soa witch will give me a minium of 6 1/2 inch lift

Well, it sounds to me like the 14 bolt has a centered diff? If this is so then you will need an '80+ tank to clear the driveshaft. The older rigs have offset axles so the tank sticks out a little farther than it does on a newer one, where it is tucked way up under the frame. If the 14 is offset the same as your current axle I can't see any reason that it wouldn't work.

EASY FIX.... go to my photpoint link in sig and take a gander at my 33 gallon tank installed...it's in the rear... no side tank to deal with and cost me $75 and my labor.
