either wrap the chains between the exhaust manifold and engine if you can, or pull the carb off and get one of those plates on ebay... they are WELL worth it!

I used the exhaust manifold bolts. One side in front, the other in the back.

I have also pulled it using the intake bolts, again, diagonal from each other.

Have not tried the carb plates. They scare me.

The carb plate works great, but can allow the motor to swing around a lot and smash into things if your not careful.
I just usually put a bolt through the chain into a bolt hole on the back of the driver side head, then cross it over with enough clearance for the carb (if still on), and put another bolt through the chain into the passenger head behind where the alternator goes. Do your self a favor and put bolts through the chain in front of and behind where the hook from the hoist goes to keep it from sliding back and forth on the chain.
Also, even though we have a lot of room for moving the engines around in these engine bays, the leveler things that hang from the hoist are VERY nice to have, and make putting them back in easier.
