I`ve thought of cooling with a trans cooler, but at what temp is your rad at? and what temp is your steering at? The rad may be higher than you want.

What I installed on my '74 that did a lot of slow crawling in the Sierra's, looking for gold mines, fixing fencing on the rance, etc. and had the PS working back and forth a LOT, was a PS cooler off a Fo*d truck (don't know what year, I pulled it off a junkyard truck in the mid-80's) and modified the bracket, drilled and tapped the frame low under the pump and mounted it in the airflow. It was all-steel, so it held up pretty well to being pelted by rocks. Lasted about 240k miles after I installed it.

Yea, I also ran a cooler. I just used a tranny cooler and ran it off the return line. Ran alot of extra line and holds about an extra quart. This also helps! I put mine in front of the radiator. You can pick them up pretty cheap at a parts store. Or find some one switching to a bigger tranny cooler as I did. Dennis

i hooked up an auto trans cooler(ya know, the aluminum ones with a buncha fins) in frot of my radiator,so it gets lots of cool air. its about 14x5 inches or so.seems to help alittle.

i had tried the more psi and volume mods, and cracked my pump in half  so i have been reclutant to try it again till i have a bigger fluid resevoir.

jamie, what mods did you do? the machine washer under the sprig?and making the hole bigger?

mine turns ok,but even with the true trac LSD,or even with the hubs unlocked,it could use some help while sitting perfectly still on very dry ground...
