whats the easiest way to change over from 6 to 8 cylinder mounts? is the only way to cut them out and change them over or is there an easier way?

Yep, cut the small welded plate and remove the three bolts. The holes should already be in the frame. If I remember correctly, a couple of the holes are reused, the v-8 mounts will be a couple of inches forward of where the I6 mounts were located. I am not even going to reweld the small plate, the bolts should be enough to hold it.

I'm doing the same thing: I6 to V8 in a J-truck.
Somewhere along the way I got the idea that you don't have to move the mount on one side, but that's not right, is it? You have to move both, don't you?
I already have both mounts for the V8. Just need to get the I6 mounts out and get the V8 ones in.

when i swapped my 304 in i used the frame horns off of an 81 chero, and the two bottom most holes on the horns were the only ones that lined up.

When you redrill the holes don't forget to put a spacer inside the frame box section to keep from crushing the box when tightening the motor mount to frame bolts.

i dont believe the spacer is needed, and can you tell me a way to put them in a boxed frame anyway?? i sure couldnt figure out an easy way, so they didn't go in. no frame crushage problems here!!

You should not have to drill holes!! The holes should be there!! Mine were covered by mud and I couldn't see them at first. Take a wire brush to the frame rail. They do not go in exacly the same place, but they do share a couple of the holes. Is there someone near you with a 360 that you could look at? I know that really helped me when I installed the motor mounts and did the radiator. Just park them next to each other and compare!!

i can assure you that, in my case anyway, only two of the correct holes were there. my truck is a '73, so the frame change in '74 may have something to do with this??
