was looking at a j-20 today for a parts rig, forgot to check year, courious about what driveline it has, it has lockouts,44 front 60 rear,8 lug ,auto, rear center hoghead, what trans /transfercase setup would it be? and what would the ring and pinion likely be,would it be a 727 with a 208 or a 400 with a modle 20? didn't have time to crawl under the rig ,was late for work ,looking to maybe use the drivline in my cherokke this spring after cuting down the rear end ,guy wants 350.00 for the whole rig but cant dig it out till spring

If it's a 74-79 J-20 w/AT it's BW/QT x-case and TH400 tranny.
If it's an 80-87 it's the 727 trans and 208 x-case. Gears will be either 3.73's or 4.09's depending on year/option.

Guess I missed the 'hoghead' part...no all QT's ran a off-center to the pass side rear diff. The 80 ups all have centered rear diffs drivers side diffs on the front axles.
Still sounds like a good deal for $350 though.
