Looks like a one banana job by the book (haynes). Anything I should know before I start? Also, are the vac tubes to the transfer for the 4x4 easy to get at? Seems as though I am always in 4x4 and I think my tubes may be disconnected. Thanks for all the help. I sure learn a lot from you guys.

If you're going to this extent, you might as well shim the clearance to .006-.008 (most are WAY out from that, causing spark scatter and reducing the spring tension - from overcompression)
Also, if you do that, take the shaft completely out and clean the hardened black grease out form the bearings and re-grease the shaft with a moly lube. Also, lube the counterweights and why not install a Mr.Gasket spring kit for a little bit of an advance boost.
Grease the rotator on the PU Coil assy too and don't loose that stupid wire retainer ring. Use a gear puller if possible on the stator, it can be fragile and you might crack it using the screwdriver prybar method.
If you take it completely down (to clean the shaft, relube, shim), don't forget that the majority of the roll pin holes are not on center with the shaft, so the gear goes on only one way. If you find the pin stopping and not pressing all the way through, don't force it, push the pin out, rotate ONLY the gear 180 degrees and press the pin again.
Have fun.

I planned on doing a little more, but the ground screw inside the dizzy was stripped out good and by the time I drilled it out and tapped the hole (cleaned up the threads) it was getting dark and I was thirsty smile.gif so i called it a night was the new pick up was in place. I will have to save the rest for another vacation day.
