Starter & 304

This is a two part question.... Being mechanically inclined, but not a mechanic, my starter is dragging only when the engine is warm, I believe I need to replace the starter, does anybody know for sure??

Also, I have a 1986 Grand Wagoneer with the 304, everywhere I look online for parts shows the 360. Does anybody know if these parts are interchangeable??

i am pretty sure they are interchangeable. how does the waggy run withe 304??

It would be hard to say if your starter is the culprit, based on the info given. It is very possible to starter is dragging when warm. Bad timing would also cause a hard start when hot. So if timing is good, battery is good, starter would be a good guess. The starter fron the 304 will fit. ;)

Runs good with the 304, it's geared low so it pulls well.... not as good as my 88 w/ 360 did, but the mpg's are worth the lower power.
