serial/model number help

I need some help please. I have been scraping and brushing my transfer case and tranny searcing for the serial/model numbers but have not found anything but lots of grime in the face. Where do I find this info on the case? I am sure its right in front of me but I cant see it and also is there a switch on the t-case for a 4 wheel light in the dash? There seems to be a wire with plug above mine with no home. I have a 79 j20 with manual tranny, non-syncro first, locking hubs with a dana 60/44 combo.

Thanks for the great info once again Crazy_Jeepman, now i can get back to fixing the wifes car, piece o #@%%%$ sable always using up my valuable j20 petting time. :mad: its on the block next week next week for sure!!!! there are 2 wagoneers for sale not far from here and i think she needs one bad ;)
