gear ratios in my 79 Golden Eagle

Is there a way to tell what gear ratio's I have in my Jeep Cherokee without pulling the covers off and counting teeth? Like maybe data that can looked up from a code? Is there an option code plate somewhere on these Jeeps? I assume they all have Dana44's but I would like to know what ratios I have.

I think the diff should be stamped with the gear ratio. You've either got a 2.72 or 3.31. If it's pretty gutless off the line you probably got 2.72's.

79 GE should have 3.54 gears. If there's a tag on the covers, it'll give you the number of teeth on the ring and pinion gears, a little division will get you the correct ratio.
