View Full Version : Caster Adjustment on Dana 44?
After putting on longer shackles on the front(from new style GM) it seems that the steering is a little whacky. I was wondering if there is caster adjustment on it from the factory or do I have to put in adjsutment sleeves and how much and where can I get them?

Do a search on Spindle shims..... and upper balljoint adjustment sleeves....
you can get 1.5 degrees of correction from the upper balljoint sleeves....
nevermind..... here's the link...

It was set at the factory. There are aftermarket solutions for adjusting it (slightly).

OH, so kinda BFH it, eh?? Me likey :D
So do you think with four inch springs and the chevy shackles up front I will need to use those adjusters and how much adjustment?

Are you sure you're not suffering from some bumpsteer?

I was just going ask about bumpsteer.... you runnin a 4"drop pitman arm or stocker?
I have a dropped pitman arm on it. It just seems real sloppy, play in the wheel after tyhe shackles were installed. I already replaced steering box, steering shaft and all other associated front end parts, including ball joints and steering stabilizer. It probably needs a good alignment but was wondering if the caster could be off from the shackles. Any ideas??

Shackles will change the geometry a bit, but not that much... I ran 3 degrees up on the pinions AND GM shackles and tracked GREAT!!!!
