Just finished a rear shackle flip, post pic's of the bolt-on bracket I used latter, gained 3 5/8" measured from centre axle to wheel well lip. Now the existing shockies will only fit at the fully extended position.
I have thought of 3 options to remedy this;
1) Lower top shockie mounting bolt.
2) Cut and re-weld bottom mount on the diff.
3) Purchase longer actuating shockies.
How have others that have done this, or have lifted, overcome this problem?

With an extra 3 5/8" of height I'd go with new shocks.

Thanks for the advice. I'm thinking of get new shockies, then if ever the need be, I can change it back to original.

Ditto... where did you get a bolt-on bracket. I got great rear springs and am still toying with the 3" lift idea. A rear shackle flip is exactly what I had in mind. With new front springs I would save money and get a better ride to boot.

With a few skinned knuckles, a bit of grinding and welding and a fair bit of head scratching http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/confused.gif...I fabbed it myself. Similar ideas may have been done this way before, not sure though. I've posted some pic's that you can check out at,
Rear shackle flip (http://www.geocities.com/ozbearhunter/suspension.html)
It may not be fancy,,, but it achieves what I wanted to do.

Graham, would sure like to see a post on the play by play. What you call not to fancy... alot of us call strokes of smart thinking. Any advice on this is sure appreciated.

Took awhile to nut it out, but it's my first go a fabbing some thing like this. Both yours and Dutch's comments give confidence to do the front now as it is nearly 4" lower that the back!!!
I'll gather my scribbled plans and notes, try to make sence out of them and post a how to.
