Does anyone know of where to get a Dana 20 overhaul kit? I had an older kit but let my brother-in-law have it because won't need it to soon. No one in my area carries any.

Six States here in Ogden carries them, when I got mine I think they ran around 60 bucks, but my dad is friends with the guy that runs the place so I got a discount. I know Ogden is a long way from you, but I think they will ship just about anything anywhere.

i got my 18 gasket/seal kit from national drivetrain.they only wanted $24 for that, and about $60 for the kit with bearings.the only prob is that they tacked on $14 for shipping.it would have fit in a big envelope, but they sent it in a shoe box sized box filled with magazines! http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/eek.gif now i wont accuse them of doing so to make it heavier,but... not buchend up paper, magazines. they also kinda screwed another frined of mine on ball joints one time, but thats another story.

also try 4xheaven,and 4wd hardware. a friend of mine has another catalog where you could get it as well.they also have the brake shoes for our rear output drum parking brakes, tho im gonna check on simply havin mine relined locally before i order some

HEY DAVE,leave us a phone # or something here, for the place youre gettin your 20 gasket set from.

you can get to 4xheaven at www.4xheaven.com (http://www.4xheaven.com)
national drivetrain at www.natldrivetrain.com (http://www.natldrivetrain.com)
4wd hardware at www.4wd.com (http://www.4wd.com)

can dig up phone #s if ya need em

I've seen the gasket kits on Ebay for about $20(probably plus shipping). Will have to yield to the other suggestions for the rest of the rebuild kit though, as I haven't looked for one yet.

However.....though a little more pricey, would the TeraLow kit for the D20 do an essential rebuild as well? It's like $700-800 if I recall correctly, but gives you a 3.15:1 low range ratio, which is far better than the 2.03:1 we now have! Just curious if a person were doing the TeraLow conversion, would that essentially rebuild it then too? One wouldn't need to buy a rebuild kit as well, would they? Just another idea on this tangent(even if a little pricier....might be worth the effort if you're rebuilding the case anyway!).

Take care....

You get all new hardware and seals with the Tera low kit, so it is the same as a rebuild except you switch out the old gears.

Cool! Thanks, Kaiser! Of course, it "only" costs several hundred more too! http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/smile.gif But, you get the low gear.....hmmm.....

Thanks for the info.....hope you find the kit you need!

Take care...

the spicer 18 is a more affordable way to get more low range(2.46 vs 2.03).plus you can get a saturn over drive or a PTO.adapters are actually available now to have both.you need to start with a 53 or later case with a 1.25 inch intermidate shaft and swap all the guts into the 20 housing.not a big deal if you want to do a rebuild anyway.youll also need the matching input gear.most used the same 6 spline, but a couple oftrannies used a 10 spline for the input gear,so check that out before handing over any nonrefundable cash. http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/smile.gif there do exist versions that share the same 4 inch indexing hole as the 20.these will swap on with no case change, but are real hard to come by.

i gave $150 for an 66 18 xfer and PTO with front and rear outputs, and about $40 for gaskets with shipping. this is not 3.15,but itsright up there with all the aluminum cased xfers and the dana 300. and if you want the 3.15 and an over drive or PTO,you can get the 3.15 low for the 18 as well.

someting else to consider if youre running a 20 style case http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

I also have seen conversions done which use gears from a Dana 20 in a Bronco. It wouldn't be much of an improvement, but it would be comparable to all the aluminum transfer cases. I would love to use the Tera low kit, but don't want to spend $700 on one right now.

Just got off the phone with National Drivetrain, they want $110 for the full kit. And 4wheel heaven wanted $75 for the full kit. Are kits for older Dana 20's more of did the prices just go up that much?

my kit was just seals and gaskets-no bearings. the kit with bearings was $60.i didnt call 4xheaven.not sure why the d20 kit is more expensive-maybe a simple matter of them being so common, and people not really rebuilding them, hence not as big a demand for the rebuild kit?

i have seen a couple of writeups on the bronco d20 gear swap, both saying that you also need a couple of gears from the 18.you can almost build an 18 from scratch with the parts available(HEY DAVE! WHERES THAT PHONE #?),but the bronco gears are no longer made and are getting real scarce, especially since people have discovered that they fit in the jeep case.ive never actually seen a bronco case for sale.ive no idea what someone would want for one.the old broncos have enuff of a following that theyre not parted out too often.i do keep my eyes peeled for one,tho-if i ever find one id like to build a 2.46 low range 20,cause i also know the whereabouts of a PTO for a 20 http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/smile.gif

Sorry for takeing so long but could not find the catalog. The # is 1800-745-5337 or www.quadratec.com. (http://www.quadratec.com.) A gasket is 14.95 that is every thing S/H is 7.95 for those parts
part #52208.00
They also have all the gears for the transfer cases and stock chain. Most of the catalog is for cj but good for the trany and t-case parts and it is a free catalog
