Ok, I need some advice on what I can do to my stock 5.9l engine in my 90 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. It still has the stock carb and manifold. I want to increase horsepower and proformence. Should I change the card and manifold, and if so to what and what will it do after I make the change.

Thanks > John

assuming no strict emmissions testing (ie: must have the oem stuff under the hood), check out what i did in my sig. better mpg (1.5), lots more low-end power, instant throttle response, turn the key and drive.

on the other hand, slightly more complicated (more electrical stuff to go wrong). and more $$$ then just rebuilding the carb.

BUT, i am of the opinion that if its broke, its time to upgrade!

My Opinion? Check my sig . . .

Edelbrock! Tailpipe to Chrome Covered Open Filter Housing!

Throw in a little MSD on the electrical side and I am running pretty . . . now about that lift kit :D

Sprucemoose -- how are the 31's with the 2.72 gears ? Are you getting enough power out of that tbi ?

My carb is broke, tax check almost here, time to upgrade !

I first got rid of the 2.72 R/P's and went to a 3.54--believe it or not my milage improved by 2MPG(and thats taking into acount the speedo gear change) Next I went with the MSD 6A youll be surprized at the differance this will make not so much with the milage but in throttle responce. Then went with the Carter 9000 570CFM carb and a holley dominator intake--WOW! really improved performance and my milage is at about 14HWY and 12 CTY. Will probubly get even better milage when I add the 31's---If you have the extra cash though(I'm in the military so am kinda poor!!!ha!) definatly go with the Holley injection---have heard great things---one of these days I'll be there!!!

ChandlerV,

HAve you checked out my GM fuel injection link? I do a complete throttle body fuel injection using GM parts. You can check out my systems at:

www.customefis.com (http://www.customefis.com)

You can also read a post from this forum here about my system after its installed.

http://www.ifsja.org/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=2&t=005982

I am currently working on three kits for members of this forum.

My prices are the same as Holley 2DI fuel injection, but with mine you get more features, mainly spark timing control with the engine computer. Holley only gives you spark control.

I am only 125 miles from you so if you want to see one of my kits, I'll demonstrate one to you. One of my customers is a student at Ga Tech. He put one on last fall and is the one who posted above. His name is Treadted.

Thanks for looking.

Welcome to the forums, good to have another atlanta fsj'er. What part of atlanta or more importantly what county you're in will determine the emission testing and how many mods you can do.
Ive met TPIGUY and he does quality work. While your at it with the mods be sure to get a good exhaust system to help the engine breathe.
