My Chief has a pretty bad front end "drifting" problem - replaced the steering stabilizer already... helped a little but not enough... Any direction as to where to start looking?

Well there is a whole lot of joints down there, that might need a replacement, im not an expert on these suspension/steering things. Anyone else have something to add?

It could be loose wheel bearings, bad tie rod ends, and even a sloppy steering shaft u-joint. Also check the rag joint and the steering box for loosness. there is an adjustment on it but I heard you have to be careful because too tight will wear it out faster or cause it to bind.

Check the tie rods first. If you are able to wiggle them by hand, they need to be replaced.
Also, I just replaced my stabilizer bar and endlink bushings with Energy Suspension poly bushings. Cost me $23.66 and made a big difference, especially since the original rubber bushings were shot.

I would check the steering shaft u-joint, like Chris said. These joints were really junk and a lot of front end problems that were blamed on other parts were really caused by this joint. I repalced mine with the steering shaft from a Chevy p.u. The Chevy shafts are cheap and easy to find and the joints are rebuildable.

UP Chief,
I would check your spring bushings. If when you turn your steering wheel the hood of the truck seem to move the opposite way, that would be my first guess. I need to replace mine as they are shot. I'm waiting to do them at the same time as new springs.
Hope this helps.
