I drove one of my trucks this weekend that I haven't run in awhile. I hopped on the interstate and was running 65-70 and about 2800-3000 Rpms and hit 230 degrees on my guage. As soon as I got off the interstate and was running around 2200 rpms the temp went down and stays around 190. What condition causes this and what should I be looking to fix. I'll check the hoses for flex as soon as it cools down.

Not enuf flow thru the radiator.. try a flush first.
I had a similar problem in my burb.. I had to replace the radiator... I had replaced everything else with no luck...around town it did great and freeway speeds just made it a boiler....

Thanks, I was planning on doing it soon since it's so easy and cheap.

Is there a spring in the lower radiator hose? If not that may be part of your problem, because with no spring the hose will partially collapse restricting the water flow. To check this, run the engine up to 3500 or so and watch the lower hose to see if it starts to collapse.
