View Full Version : rearch or new springs?

so after playing with the front leaves, I still have some sag in the front springs. One of the helper springs some PO put on was broken, so I picked up some old spring leaves from desert freak and put them on. I have 3 leaves in front- with all the "new" old springs, I lost about 3 inches. I put one of the helpers in on both side, now drivers side sits a bit lower than pass.
So- cheapest route- which way to go without a bone jarring ride?

thought about it...
but I'm CHUH-EEP ! smile.gif I mean thrifty.
if you plan on keeping your rig for some time go with new. it might hurt the pocket book now but you won't regret it.

If you can't swing one of our kits (even just the spring / u-bolt kit, or just the front springs....we'll sell em' any way you want)....I would recommend contacting one of the folks who just swapped to one of our kits. You might be able to pick up their used springs pretty cheap!

It's not urgent...just something on THE LIST smile.gif
which has a tail longer than Hailey's comet I think...
eventually I'd like to do one of your kits, but right now ain't the time. Just cost me 300 bones to reg it in CA since it's a Utah truck. Ouch.

I have never seen re-arched springs last very long. Usually, withing a year, they start to sag. Sometimes if you are lucky they will go for 2 years. I have never seen any last three without sagging.

I've only had one set of springs re-arched(50 Chev 1/2 ton) and they lasted about six months but I used the truck a lot as a truck. If it would have just been a commuter rig they might have lasted longer...I dunno? I wouldn't do it again though.

I don't really want to lift it- I've got 33's already w/the body lift, so that's plenty for what I use it for. Not a rockcrawler. So, I'll keep in mind that rearching is NOT the way to go. And look for a good deal on a set of replacement springs.
Are Chero springs compatible?
Yup.
edit: opps you meant for a truck not a Wag. The fronts should be the same but the rears won't be.

all I need for now is fronts- the rear are some heavy duty setup but they're plenty "springy"
just stiff.
gawdzilla, you can have mine when I do my 4" BJs kit in a few coming months, if you're not in a rush.
