The wiring that is coming out of the steering column has been cut, so I don't know what is what? It is on a 74 J-20. I think there was about 5-6 wires coming out of it. Anyone now which ones are which, like ingnition? Also does this sound like the factory distributor and coil for a 258: the distributor cap us blue and has a wiring plug coming of of it that has 3 wires in it, the coil is also blue and long and cylindrical. I have no ignition control modual, so i'm trying to figure out what ignition stuff i have so I can get the right one. Thanks for any help and Info.

74 should be points. I am thinking it should only have one wire though. Ignition upgrade maybe. Column wirring might be fun to figure out.

What about that wiring on the column, lets try to figuure out what it might be.

12Vdc going to the ignition switch, right?...that should be one, it should always have power on it.

When the ignition is turned to the start position, that might go to the "S" terminal of the Starter Solenoid Relay on the fender wall...that might be two. So you have already figured out which one is power going into the column, identify that wire color, and using a ohm-meter connect between the other half of that wire...the one still connected to the steering column, and check for continuity from the wire on the steering column to another wire, when you find it, that is probably the "Start" wire and goes to the "S" terminal of the Starter Solenoid.

When the vehicle is started, there might be 12Vdc on the "I" terminal of the Starter Solenoid Relay...that might be 3, of after the key is released and in "On" position, continuity from the 12Vdc supply wire to this wire should be the "I" terminal.

How about the horn, that needs wiring, and the blinkers on the column. That just might round it up.

Thanks Joe, I went down to the shop and counted the wires coming out of the column, there are 11 of them!
